 In the photography world, we over-use words like candid, authentic, true to life and etc. Let me just say, I know family life is filled with fun, entertaining, messy, chaotic and even heartbreaking moments all wrapped in what is uniquely yours. I want to capture those imperfect, raw moments of who your family is, not who you are on ‘picture day’. I truly love getting to know each of my families and what makes them tick. The only way to do this is to learn about you and the things that make your family yours! If your little guy likes to twirl your hair as he falls asleep or your little girl must kiss your cheek, then your nose, then your forehead (in that order) before leaving for school, let me capture those moments set in the environment of your choosing. Not everyone wants an in-home photography session, but we can recapture those moments while sitting on a blanket in the middle of a field or while you are holding them walking down a road. The possibilities are endless but in order to know what is meaningful to your family I must get to know you a little more. I will send you a brief questionnaire, but I am totally open to phone calls or texts. I realized life is BUSY and filling out a paper to get your pictures taken may seem daunting! I am open to whatever works best for you.   

I want the session to be a relaxing and fun experience for your whole family. I attempt to capture as many real-life moments as possible during your session. I want to capture your moments not your poses. No worries though, I will guide you throughout the entire session, but I am really just trying to help you get into the natural flow of your family.  We will be snuggling, playing, walking, sitting and even running (kids usually, but hey I am up for a full-on race between the whole gang).  

 I suggest starting with Mom and then working out from there. Generally, Mom is the one helping everyone pick their clothes anyway. (I realize that this is not always the case however). I suggest you opt for comfort because we will be moving around and doing many fun activities. I usually recommend wearing solid colors with some light patterns and avoiding large logos. It is also good to dress in layers or have accessories (belts, hats, scarfs) to add variety to your photos.

It can be at a location of your choosing or one that I will recommend for you. Lots of people like to have their photos taken where they have special memories and feel most comfortable, but we can go with whatever your family wants. 

Keeping things casual and fun is best for little ones.  Get the kids excited about a week or two before the session. Definitely tell them about the fun adventure we have planned and even ask for their ideas that you can share with me! I realize that kids will be kids and that is exactly what I expect.  Don't stress over the kiddos behaviors too much or put undo pressure on them about being on best behaviors. (Mom of 2 boys here so been there done that but wish a photographer would have told me this).If they are too worried about behaving or 'acting just right', it will show in their faces which is not what you will want captured. Just remind them it is going to be FUN!!  

Just let him know that he will be guided throughout the entire process and his only real expectation will be to have fun and love on his family!

Relax and let me have the reigns for the entirety of the photoshoot. Don't stress about anything!  I got this and will get any shots you want. I just want you to be in moment and enjoying the  experience while loving on your family! 

Great question! I will go through all of your captured moments and pick out ones that will tell your story best! I generally deliver the edited full gallery within 2 weeks of the session. I will also post a sneak peek within a few days as well!
